Trinidad’s health ministry warns against fake swine flu testing
The Ministry of Health in Trinidad and Tobago is warning against the practice of private laboratories conducting tests for the deadly H1N1 virus.
The Ministry said it has become aware of some direct marketing activities by private laboratories, which promote testing for the influenza.
It said the testing for the particular H1N1 subtype of the virus is available in the country only through the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC).
Health officials are urging the public and the private medical community to use the official health facilities that are equipped and prepared to deal with both the testing and surveillance.
The World Health organisation (WHO) has confirmed that 30 countries have officially reported five thousand 251 cases of the H1N1 Influenza A infection.
