Madrid Open Round Up

Defending champion Andy Murray moved into the Madrid Open quarterfinals today by beating Tommy Robredo 7-5, 6-1 while top-ranked Rafael Nadal joined him without having to play.



Nadal and sixth-seeded Andy Roddick received walkover wins after their respective opponents Germany\'s Philipp Kohlschreiber and 10th-seeded Nikolay Davydenko withdrew with leg injuries.



Also advancing were Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.



Federer, who has yet to win a title this year, made light work of 14th seed James Black, beating him 6-2, 6-4.



And third seed Djokovic, eyeing a fifth straight final appearance, beat Italian Andreas Seppi 6-4, 6-4 to set up a quarter-final clash with Croat Ivan Ljubicic who beat Gilles Simon of France 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.



On the women’s side, top-ranked Dinara Safina overcame a mid-match dip to beat Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 to reach the last eight. Jelena Jankovic also made it but Number seven seeded Victoria Azarenka was beaten.
