Nearly 10, 000 cases of H1N1 Influenza cases have been confirmed worldwide as Japan records a rapid climb in outbreaks of the virus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said 79 people are known to have died from the new virus.

UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon has called for global solidarity, particularly regarding distributing any vaccine.

Some medical charities fear that with the large vaccine orders already placed by wealthy countries there will not be enough for everyone.

Most of the new flu victims are said to be in Mexico, which reported some 545 cases, and the US, where 409 new cases have been confirmed.

There are also 34 new cases in Japan.
