The Somali man who held an American Captain hostage at sea for several days is to appear before a New York City court today.
Abde Muse is facing 10 criminal counts including piracy, holding a hostage for ransom and armed hijacking.
When he appeared in court yesterday, Muse\'s mother told the court that her son is 16 years old but prosecutors argue that he is over 18.
A judge last month ruled that he should be tried as an adult.
Reports are that the Somali pirate is the first person on piracy charges in the US in over a century.
Muse faces life in prison if convicted.
