T&T recall veteran defender
After almost three years out of national colours, veteran defender Marvin Andrews has returned to the Trinidad and Tobago line up for the side’s floundering World Cup qualifying campaign.
Head coach Russell Latapy recalled the Scotland-based 33 year old as the team gears up for their crucial encounter against Costa Rica on June 6.
Andrews, a once highly rated defender was good enough to play for Glasgow Rangers in the past, last turned out for T&T in 2006 against the Czech Republic.
He is one of eight players in the current squad who propelled the country’s historic qualification for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
T&T’s World Cup hopes are slim, following a string of poor results. They opened with draws against El Salvador and Honduras before losing 3-0 to the United States last month to be bottom of the CONCACAF zone with two points.
