Powell warns Bolt
Former world 100 metre record holder Asafa Powell says his Jamaican teammate Usain Bolt will have to work harder this year to stay on top.
Powell says Bolt will be in trouble if he is not working as hard as he did last year.
Powell says he is in good form to beat Bolt, who set world records in winning the 100, 200 and 4 x 100 metre relay at the Beijing Olympics.
Powell begins his quest to reclaim his 100 metre world record tomorrow at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York.
He should start favourite to win but will be challenged by two Americans, Darvis Paton and Travis Padgett, Daniel Bailey of Antigua and Barbuda and Olympic silver medallist Richard Thompson of Trinidad.
Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Winston Barnes, Yohan Blake and Steve Mullings are other Jamaicans listed for the 100 metres to be divided into two races.
Bolt announced himself as a world-beater last year at the Reebok Grand Prix by breaking Powells’ 100-metre mark of 9.74 seconds with a time of 9.72.
Bolt, who has a spectacular 9.69 in the Beijing final, is skipping the New York meet.
