Teacher arrested for sexually abusing student

A 27 year old female school teacher has been charged with the statutory rape of a 14 year old male student.



Melissa Weber a teacher from Long Island is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with the 14 year old boy on seven separate occasions between April 13 and May 14 this year.



According to investigators, Weber told the student not to tell any one about their encouter because she could lose her teaching license.



She has been held pending the hearing of the case in the Queens Criminal Court on seven counts of second-degree rape, fourteen counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.



If convicted, she faces up to seven years in prison.



The boy’s mother learnt of the matter on Wednesday when she was told by people at the school that a teacher was engaging in an inappropriate relationship with her son.



The mother got the teacher\'s telephone number and then checked her son\'s cell phone where she found records of hundreds of contacts between the teacher and her son over the past two months.
