The government of Montserrat has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to spearhead the building of a new capital for the British territory.

A release issued by a public relations firm in London said Little Bay, on Montserrat\'s northwest, was being earmarked to replace Plymouth.

Plymouth was abandoned more than a decade ago after it was buried under an exploding volcano.

The release said Canadian born Colin Heartwell has been appointed as the head of the Montserrat Development Corporation, which is responsible for developing the proposed site.
