Libya to set up OECS bank

Libya is to establish a commercial bank in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) sub-region.

OECS leaders have met in Kingstown, St Vincent with a delegation from Libya to discuss the plans.

The meeting followed talks in Tripoli last month between St Vincent Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves and Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Dr Gonsalves says other forms of cooperation including scholarships have been discussed with Libya.

He says several ideas, which had been discussed in August 2001 between Libya and three OECS prime ministers, have also been reactivated.
