Caribbean countries turn away \'Swine Flu\' cruise ship
St. Lucia and Antigua have turned away a Royal Caribbean Cruise ship because of fear of contamination by the swine flu.
Their decision came after reports that two crew members and a passenger on the ship were experiencing flu-like symptoms.
Royal Caribbean\'s Chief Medical Officer, Art Diskin said the company is disappointed with the decision of the countries.
The company said affected people are immediately isolated as standard procedure.
According to Mr. Diskin, health protocols on Royal Caribbean’s ships are in place and illnesses are treated quickly and effectively.
However, the president of the Antigua and Barbuda Cruise Tourism Association, Nathan Dundas sais the country had to consider the concerns of local medical authorities.
He maintains that allowing the ship into Antigua would be too risky.
