Air France’s chief executive, Pierre-Henri Gourgeon, said no link should be assumed between the speed sensors that were on board the Air France flight 447 and last week’s crash of the plane.
In the meantime, the airline said it will continue with a program to replace the sensors on its Airbus A330s.
However, Mr. Gourgeon said the European Aviation Safety Agency maintains that the A330 and A340s are safe with any of the three types of existing sensors.
Yesterday, a French news magazine reported that two of the passengers on the flight have names that can be linked to Islamic terrorism.
However, the FBI said the names are not on any U.S. watch lists.
