The Cayman Islands will move a step closer to getting its own Constitution this week.

On Wednesday, the proposed document is to be laid before the British Parliament for approval

Already, the Privy Council in London has endorsed the proposed Constitution, which was cleared during a May 20 referendum in The Cayman Islands.

However, Governor Stuart Jack says the new Constitution, which among other things will create the post of Premier, will not be immediately implemented.
