Sections of the island are expected to experience increased rainfall, which may be heavy at times, today and on Wednesday as remnants of a tropical wave from Beryl makes it way into the central Caribbean.

The Meteorological Service says the tropical wave is to influence the weather across Jamaica, producing widespread showers and thunderstorms across sections of most parishes.

The Met office says it will continue to monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) says it too is watching the development.

ODPEM is offering the following safety tips:

* Be ready to evacuate if you live in low-lying or flood-prone areas.

* Decide on likely evacuation routes and alternative routes

* Avoid flooded waterways, i.e fords, gullies, stream or rivers, either on foot or in a vehicle.
