I fear for our future
THE EDITOR, Sir:
The Sunday Gleaner column 'Is inflation targeting the answer?' (September 30, 2018) by Densil Williams, professor of international business at the University of the West Indies, Mona, was well written and understandable to a layman like myself.
I would like the newspaper to publish more articles of this nature because I am convinced that we are on the wrong economic path. The previous minister of finance focused on low inflation, low interest rates, and a stable currency.
These ingredients engendered faith in our country and laid the groundwork for an increase in GDP. We have now changed our focus to inflation targeting and the dollar is devaluing and with it, we will get an increase in inflation. I now fear for our future.
