G.C. Foster College's Annakay Lindsay had some anxious moments, as the JAAA Carifta Trials girls' under-20 javelin came down to the very last throw on Sunday.

Lindsay ended the winner after her fourth round throw stuck in the turf at the National Stadium infield at 36.03 metres.

Before that, Lindsay had trailed Edwin Allen High School's Patreece Clarke, whose first-round 35.00m attempt had the high schooler in the lead.

Before that fourth round, Lindsay had a best throw of 33.20m which would have only been good enough for third, with St Jago's Chrishale McCarthy having thrown 34.82m.

But even after the big fourth-round effort, Lindsay was not out of the woods with both Clarke and McCarthy getting close with fifth-round efforts of 35.72m and 34.33m respectively.

In the end, the top three finishers were Lindsay, 36.03m, Clarke, 35.72m, and McCarthy, 34.99m.

Hydel High School's Sherika Christie was fourth with a throw of 34.82m, while Excelsior's Daina Morrison was fifth with her furthest mark in the grass landing at 32.80m.

In the girls under-17 event William Knibb's Wensett Brown, 33.21m, got the better of St Elizabeth Technical's Raejhaun Riley, 32.70m.
