Singh sings stirring tribute to Ukraine
Poland's Karolina Bielawska crowned Miss World 2021
Miss World 2019, Jamaica's Toni-Ann Singh, sang a soul-stirring rendition of The Prayer as candles were lit inside Puerto Rico's Coca-Cola Music Hall in solidarity with Ukraine before taking her final walk as Miss World.
Later Singh, the longest-reigning titleholder in the pageant's history, would crown Poland's Karolina Bielawska as Miss World 2021.
Bielawska, 22, is a business student with a bachelor's degree in management. She is currently pursuing her master's degree and works as a model.
The United States' Shree Saini, a 25-year-old business manager, was the first runner-up. While Olivia Yace, a 24-year-old student from Côte d'Ivoire, was the second runner-up.
The Miss World pageant was held in Puerto Rico after years of postponement owing to the coronavirus pandemic. It was first postponed in 2020, and Singh's reign extended as the big 70th anniversary celebrations were shifted to 2021. However, literally hours before the grand finale in December, a postponement was announced, with the promise that the coronation would take place in the next 90 days, and so it did. In January, Miss World announced the 40 semi-finalists who would return to Puerto Rico, and tonight a new queen was crowned in San Juan.
