THE EDITOR, Sir:

I fail to see why after so many years the Government still sees it fit to use oppression against the people it is supposed to protect, through implementation of states of emergency.

By and large, there is nothing wrong with the people of Jamaica. The issue lies in the State and those who influence the State, from corporations to the Church and foreign governments.

The Westminster system of governance was created for Britishers. Why are we still using a remnant of oppression and colonialism to govern people and use it as a tool to suppress those who are already oppressed? Central governments work, but to a certain extent. Capitalism is all make believe, our economic policies are artificial, religion is just a way for people to brag as to whom have the best imaginary friend.

Jamaica needs new community-based leadership with no interference from Jamaica House.
