Member of Parliament for South East St Andrew, Julian Robinson, is expressing concern about the pile-up of garbage in New Kingston and surrounding areas following Sunday's Carnival road marches.

Robinson said he is getting numerous complaints from residents of the area regarding the garbage that is still uncollected and on the roads.

He acknowledged that in the past the carnival bands have arranged for immediate cleanup of the streets, but said "for some reason, there was a breakdown this year and many spaces are just being cleaned and others still not touched."

Robinson called on the organisers of the three bands which held road marches to address the matter with urgency.

"I am calling on the organisers of the carnival to ensure that adequate and proper arrangements are in place for the immediate clean-up of public spaces after the road marches," he said.
