The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says service has resumed on the Portmore to downtown Kingston route following the earlier withdrawal of service by some drivers after the stabbing of one of their colleagues by a passenger.

The JUTC says reports are that a male driver, while heading to downtown Kingston, via Marcus Garvey Drive, denied the request of passengers to stop in a non-designated area.

His decision resulted in a passenger wounding him in the left arm upon exit. The driver was taken to hospital for treatment.

"We are very relieved that our colleague is in stable condition," Corporate Communications Manager, Kimberly Gardner, stated in a media release on Thursday afternoon.

She further acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by the company, impacting the level of service employees are able to provide while executing their daily duties.
