St Catherine man slapped with lottery scam charges
A St Catherine man whose phone allegedly contained the names and personal information of persons living overseas has been charged with breaches of the anti-lottery scam law.
He is Jadon Barnes, a 25-year-old from Treadways Farm Scheme in Linstead. He is charged with possession of identity information.
The police report that at about 6:30 p.m. on June 7, Barnes was arrested on reasonable suspicion of being a member of a criminal organisation.
When he was being processed by detectives, his cellular phone was searched and two PDF (Portable Document Format) files allegedly containing 39 pages of information of overseas residents were found in his WhatsApp media.
The information included banking details and telephone and social security numbers.
Barnes was charged on Tuesday following a question and answer in the presence of his lawyer.
