The principal of Grateful Hill Primary School and former Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor, George Moodie, has been formally charged with assault occasioning bodily harm following allegations that he assaulted a student earlier this year.

According to the St Catherine North Police, the incident reportedly occurred in March on the school’s compound. The alleged victim is a male student who has since been receiving counselling.

Reports were made to both the police and the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) in April, prompting a formal investigation. The findings led to a summons being served on Moodie, who is scheduled to appear in court later this month to answer the charge.

Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the nature of the alleged assault, emphasising that the child’s welfare remains a priority.

Moodie has not commented publicly on the matter.

The Ministry of Education and Youth has also not issued an official statement, but sources indicate that internal reviews may be on the way.
