Former PNP representative Christopher French switches to JLP
Christopher French, who represented the People's National Party in the Alexandria division in St Ann in last year's local government elections, has switched allegiance to the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).
French was introduced as the JLP's newest member at a party meeting in Clarendon North Western on Saturday evening by Member of Parliament for St Ann South Western Zavia Mayne.
Shouting "Shower Labourites!" to a jubilant crowd, French declared "a ya suh nice".
"A yah so wi deh...I have come to have so much respect for Mr Mayne, so much respect for Mr Mayne. When I made up my mind, it wasn't no hard thing because the love was shared, the love was there. This morning when I got up I said to myself is a lot of vision, it's now time for the mission, the mission to continue in South West St Ann, the mission to continue in Jamaica," he said.
French was then splashed with water from a bottle by Mayne.
French was defeated in the 2024 local government elections by the Jamaica Labour Party's Rohan Davidson, who received 1,806 votes to his 739.
