Shotgun stolen during Hanover housebreaking

The Hanover police are probing the theft of a shotgun from a safe at a home in a housing development in Hopewell in the parish.

Information reaching The Gleaner is that a black Benelli M2 shotgun, with serial number affixed, was stolen from its safe during a housebreaking.

The weapon is a licensed firearm according to police reports.

Our news team gathered that the incident happened sometime between 6:15 p.m. on July 11 and 6:36 p.m. on July 12.

A report was made to the police on July 13.

Meanwhile, 109 guns and 2,001 rounds were stolen from Jamaican licensed firearm holders during 2023 and 2024, according to the latest Economic and Social Survey.
