Update | Man allegedly found with ammunition in luggage at airport charged
The police have charged the Jamaican-American man who was allegedly held with 38 rounds of ammunition in his luggage at the Norman Manley International Airport on Sunday.
Marvin Gray, 47, a basketball coach from Florida and Poormans Corner in Yallahs, St Thomas, is charged with unauthorised possession of ammunition.
His court date is being finalised.
The police report that at about 2:20 p.m., Gray was in the process of boarding a flight destined for Fort Lauderdale when his checked bag was screened.
According to the police, an anomaly was detected.
They say the bag was searched in his presence, during which two magazines were found: an AR-15 magazine containing thirty-one 5.56 rounds of ammunition, and a 9mm magazine containing seven 9mm rounds.
The magazines were reportedly concealed in a compartment of the bag.
He was subsequently arrested.
