Last week Saturday, a minister of religion told me that he officiated at a wedding between two persons of different denominations because the bride's pastor would not countenance a wedding of one of his members with a person from another denomination.

Children need more than condoms to protect themselves from having unwanted and unplanned pregnancies and preventing HIV transmission and other sexually transmitted infections.

Permit me to respond to a Gleaner editorial and article concerning the proposed merger between Charlie Smith High and Trench Town High school. The arguments that have been used to justify the merger are somewhat flawed.

Any good economics text will define the living wage along the lines of a 'theoretical wage level that allows the earner to afford adequate shelter, food and the other necessities of life'. A living wage should be sizable enough to ensure that rent or mortgage payments do not account for more than a third of the total.

I resisted watching the movie 12 Years A Slave for almost two years. I stayed away for the same reason I don't need to see pictures of car accidents or mutilated bodies or sex tapes. I get the idea just from hearing the account: I don't need the imagery of a moving painted picture.

The local Roman Catholic Church is in a tizzy. Rumour has it the church is facing an identity crisis never before experienced within its righteous rectals (oops, sorry, rectories). The story on the road is that one of its own, a monsignor no less, was caught, in flagrante delicto, perpetrating heterosexual acts.

I remember attending devotion at St. Hugh's Preparatory School. We would all stand in the assembly hall and sing nice Christian songs about God and Jesus being love.
