Two students from the Vere Technical High school in Clarendon point to the damage done by Hurricane Ivan to a large chicken coop on the school compound. The coop housed more than 10,000 chickens. Almost all the chickens were killed.

The devastation of Hurricane Ivan seems a distant memory today. But 17 years ago, the country was in tatters and it is worth remembering the kind of resilience Jamaica showed in recovering from that devastation.
