Hard work pays in food

Eighteen-year-old Rennique Thomas, a first-year student at the University of The West Indies, was not surprised when he topped his mid-semester exams course - Introduction to political institution and analysis.

Thomas shared: "It wasn't my first time coming first in something, as I topped the island for CSEC (Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate) Spanish in 2013, but this award - a dinner for two at Usain Bolt's Tracks & Records last Friday - was nothing like what I got that time."

In describing his experience with Food, he continued: "Well, it was the first time for both me and my mom being at Tracks & Records. It was a lovely experience as we were treated like royalties, being pampered with the finest of service and the most palatable dishes I have had in a while.

"The music and design of the place made it the perfect setting for the dishes that were prepared and served to us. I felt truly honoured to have been recognised for my accomplishment, and was glad to be able to relax and chill to some good food and music after a long semester of hard work."

Thomas, an international relations major and a minor in Japanese, scored 28 out of 30 from a group of 436 and was rewarded for his great work with a collaborative effort by his lecturer, Dr Jermaine McCalpin, The Gleaner Company and Usain Bolt's Tracks & Records.
