Former UWI professor is Jamaica's sixth COVID death

Tara Dasgupta, lectured at the University of the West Indies, Mona and was Professor Emeritus of Inorganic Chemistry.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Jaquiline Bisasor McKenzie has confirmed Jamaica's sixth COVID-related death.

Tara Dasgupta, lectured at the University of the West Indies, Mona and was Professor Emeritus of Inorganic Chemistry.

He had been on retirement.

It is reported that had a recent travel history.

Bisasor McKenzie said she was saddened by his passing. 

At a COVID digital press conference at Jamaica House, she revealed that she was once a student of the lecturer.
