We need answers
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I have been following the discussions about the confirmed cases of coronavirus at the Alorica call centre in Portmore. One of the main things being talked about is the increase in confirmed cases and what that means for our safety.
However, one question not being asked is how the first case contracted the virus. Could this person have picked it up in Portmore or Kingston and inadvertently spread it for, maybe, weeks?
I agree that the increase in cases from the call centre poses a big threat, but even more worrying is that there are many out there who have it, may not be aware, and are spreading it to family, friends, and the wider community.
In fact, I would be surprised if we later realise that the virus has been spread in and around Portmore, most likely by asymptomatic carriers, which is what makes this virus so dangerous.
The Government needs to provide urgent information to the public about the first case of COVID-19, including how that person contracted it. We need answers.
