Waive import duties on computers

THE EDITOR, Madam:
THE COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our lives in several ways, and has forced us to change how we do things, whether temporarily or permanently. Students and teachers at all levels of the education sector are now in online-class mode, which requires the use of computers and computer accessories (tablets, laptops, earphones with microphones, etc). It is therefore surprising that the Government of Jamaica has not seen it prudent to place a temporary waiver on the import duties on computers and computer accessories.
It’s not too late for common sense to prevail.
