Zimbabwe failing those suffering from TB

THE EDITOR, Madam:
I am disappointed that Zimbabwe’s health system has failed, to the point that they are reportedly using outdated and damaged equipment, expired medication, and there is insufficient staff. Zimbabwe’s clinics and hospitals are dilapidated, and people are dying every day. They have nowhere to go for treatment.
Zimbabwe is on a list of countries heavily burdened by tuberculosis. This is caused by poor planning by the government and a corrupt regime. The majority of people are going for treatment in our neighbouring countries – this is an additional burden and puts pressure on Namibia, Botswana, and especially South Africa.
Healthcare is among many issues plaguing Zimbabwe.
