Nadine Molloy – educator par excellence
THE EDITOR, Madam:
As a past student and former head boy at Ardenne High School, I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Nadine Molloy for 12 years of superlative service to the school.
When Nadine arrived at Ardenne High, she was the first appointed principal who was not a past student of the school, and neither was she a member of the Church of God in Jamaica, founders of the institution. That was not a deterrent for her, and she quickly blazed her own trail, managing eggshell issues and engaging with various stakeholders from the Ardenne High School community.
She continued to cement the tradition of academic and creative excellence at the school during her tenure, producing on occasions the top CAPE students for the Caribbean, taking home the Schools’ Challenge Quiz cup several times, producing from Rhodes Scholars to Spelling Bee winners to top prizes in the performing arts too numerous to count, not least of which was a Grammy Award.
But Molloy’s innovation was not limited to academic excellence. She fully grasped the importance and the relevance of moulding a fully baked, socially agile graduate in today’s fluid job marketplace, and, when COVID-19 became a hurdle for education, Nadine was already way ahead of the curve with the full utilisation of technology tools to enable distance learning. My fellow past students and I are grateful for her years of distinguished service. We note that she is already making waves of transformation at Shortwood Teachers’ College where she is now the principal. We wish for her every success in her new mission and her future endeavours.
