Let peace reign supreme
THE EDITOR, Madam:
The recently held elections in Canada were free from disunity, vitriol and violence.
The dignity, statesmanship and good-naturedness with which Canadian political leaders and candidates conducted themselves are worthy of emulation by our nation’s political leaders and candidates.
The prime minister and the leader of the Opposition should do everything in their power to lead by example, and, as much as possible, promote peace and unity, in relation to political campaigning associate with Jamaica’s upcoming general election. If history is anything to go by, I do not think this will happen, but, as citizens, we should, always be hopeful and prayerful that this will happen. Moreover, this would augur well for Jamaica, given her prominence on the regional and global stage and in particular sports and culture.
The last thing this beautiful and blessed island needs is yet another vitriol-filled political campaign and violence-ridden general election. Likewise, what this nation does not need are political leaders, who, preach and promote disunity, propaganda and tribalism. and, who do not lead by example.
Let peace reign supreme, at this time and throughout the rest of this year.
