Kingston, a tragedy

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I note the article - Kingston - Jamaica’s capital - a tragedy, and endorse the commentary (by Elizabeth Morgan) . This issue highlights a growing concern for New Kingston as well. The area is left with many unoccupied buildings which become homes for the indigent. Some national structures like Vale Royal are today falling into ruin – the Global Furnishings (building) on Constant Spring road is an example. I hope someone can rescue these properties, as was done with the now Oaklands apartments after the Percy Junior Great house fell into ruin.
