Sagicor Group Jamaica hosted its inaugural Community Heroes Awards Ceremony last Tuesday to recognise, celebrate and honour 50 awardees. The intimate affair was held at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, where awardees were presented with customised plaques curated by Jamaican artisan Everard Powell. The Community Heroes Awards initiative was launched last year as part of the financial conglomerate’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The programme invited the public to nominate people in their communities who embody the qualities of an everyday hero through volunteerism, charity and kindness, and who, despite challenges, continue to give of themselves selflessly to uplift their communities and build a better Jamaica.
