Schools to remain closed Tuesday amid projected impact of Hurricane Matthew

The Education Ministry says schools will continue to remain closed on Tuesday.
The ministry says it made that decision based on advice from the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management.
Several schools especially in eastern Jamaica are now being used as shelters.

The education ministry is encouraging school administrators to stay tuned to the media for regular updates as the situation unfolds over the next two days.
The Meteorological Service has discontinued the hurricane warning for Jamaica and replaced it with a tropical storm warning as Hurricane Matthew remains east of Jamaica.
