Security guard shot dead in Newell PC bank robbery

A security guard was shot and killed by gunmen after a robbery at the Newell People's Cooperative Bank in St Elizabeth this afternoon.
The guard’s name has not been released, but The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre understands that he was employed to Guardsman Limited.
The police report that shortly after 2 o’clock, four men entered the bank and got into an argument with the security guard.
It’s reported that a tussle ensued and the guard was shot several times.
Before escaping, police sources say the gunmen forced open a door at the bank and stole over $100,000.
It’s believed that they also stole the guard’s firearm.
