Met office issues Severe Weather Alert
The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has issued a Severe Weather Alert for the island, which is to remain in place until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 4.
The weather agency says a deep Trough in the vicinity of Jamaica will continue to influence weather conditions across the island for at least another three days.
Projections are for periods of light to moderate, and at times heavy showers and thunderstorms, to continue affecting the island with the most significant rains expected on Saturday and Sunday.
The agency says sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms due to gusty winds and is, therefore, urging fishers and other marine interests to exercise caution.
It says it will continue to monitor the situation.
