Main Street in May Pen, Clarendon will be closed nearly all day tomorrow, the National Works Agency (NWA) has announced.

The NWA says the roadway will be closed between Guinep Tree and Brooks Avenue, beginning at 8 o’clock in the morning until 6 o’clock in the evening.

Stephen Shaw, Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, says that the closure is to facilitate “much needed” improvement work, which includes repaving the roadway.

As a result, the NWA says vehicular traffic will be rerouted.

Motorists travelling from the direction of Chapelton will be directed onto Howard Avenue, then onto Glenmuir Road and Anderson Drive.

The NWA says persons travelling from Toll Gate should turn onto Glenmuir Road, then onto Anderson Drive, Fernleigh Avenue then onto Brooks Avenue.

Motorists travelling from Sandy Bay will be directed to use the Bustamante Highway, Glenmuir Road and Anderson Drive.

The project forms part of a $121 million contract to improve the roadway from Palmers Cross to Guinep Tree.
