Section of Main Street, May Pen to be closed Sunday

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that this Sunday, October 14, a section of Main Street in May Pen, Clarendon will be closed to vehicular traffic to facilitate ongoing road paving works.
The NWA says the activities will be concentrated along the section of the roadway between Brooks Avenue and Sevens Road in the town centre.
As such, motorists wishing to travel through the town will be redirected on to other roadways.
Motorists approaching the town from Manchester Avenue may use either Fernleigh Avenue or Stork Street to get on to Brooks Avenue to re-enter Main Street.
Those motorists entering the town via the May Pen Bridge should use Brooks, Williams, Convent and Fernleigh avenues to get back on to the main roadway.
The restriction will be in effect from 8 a.m to 7 p.m on Sunday.
Motorists are being urged to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs during the period of works.
The NWA says works along Main Street, May Pen forms part of a $98 million road rehabilitation project targeting a 3 kilometre stretch of roadway from Palmer's Cross to the Manchester Avenue/Chapelton Road intersection at Guinep Tree.
The agency says the project is one of over 63 medium-sized works being implemented island-wide under the Government’s $5.3 billion Major Infrastructure Development Programme.
