Annual reports on parliamentarians’ declarations delivered to OPM
The annual reports on statutory declarations by parliamentarians are at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
Karl Harrison, chairman of the Integrity Commission, confirmed in a press release Thursday afternoon that the commission had submitted the reports for 2014, 2015, 2016.
However, he did not reveal when the documents were submitted.
“We further advise that preparation of the Annual Report for 2017 is currently in progress and is expected to be completed and submitted directly to Parliament before the end of the 2018/2019 financial year,” said Harrison, a retired justice of the Court of Appeal.
The commission will begin preparing the 2018 annual report when the statutory declaration timeline of March 2019 expires.
The Trevor Munroe-led National Integrity Action raised alarm more than a week ago that no annual reports on parliamentarians had been tabled since 2016, and that was for the year 2013.
Parliamentarians are required by law to file reports of their income, assets and liabilities with the newly-formed Integrity Commission.
The Commission is required to present the reports to the OPM which should then have them tabled in the Parliament.
