AK-47 rifle among three illegal weapons seized; no arrests

A high-powered rifle with an empty magazine was seized during an operation on Burgher Lane in Rollington Town, Kingston 2 yesterday.

The police also report that two more illegal firearms were seized on the weekend in St Catherine and Manchester.

The Elletson Road police report that the AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine was found on an abandoned premises about 11:20 a.m. 

No one was arrested in relation to the seizure.

A 9mm handgun was also found on Valdez Road in St Catherine yesterday. The Spanish Town police report that the illegal gun was found with a magazine containing twelve 9mm cartridges wrapped in a shirt after the police chased a group of men who ran upon seeing a team on patrol. 

On Friday, the Manchester police seized a .38 revolver loaded with two .38 rounds of ammunition that was found at the root of a tree on Gabby Street in Mandeville. 

No arrests were made in connection with the find.
