A woman is among five people who were shot and injured at a party on Barracks Road in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, early Saturday morning.

The injured, who range in ages from 27 to 32, were attacked and shot by two men aboard a motorcycle some time after 1 a.m.

Patrons scrambled for cover at the sound of the gunshots.

Five persons were later discovered suffering from gunshot wounds to various parts of their bodies.

They were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The Gleaner has learnt that the gunmen also shot up a black motor car, which was quickly driven away with the motorcyclists following.

However, as the vehicle approached the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station the attackers rode away.

The windscreen and rear right glass of the vehicle were damaged in the shooting, however, the occupants escaped unhurt.
