A St Catherine car washer has been charged after he allegedly abducted his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint.

He is 28-year-old Nigel Pusey, of Red Pond district, Frazer's Content.

The police say about 6:20 p.m. on January 19, Pusey went to the woman's home on St John's Road in the parish, smashed her windows and cut her light wires.

He allegedly later approached the woman, who was on her way home from work, and pointed a firearm at her before instructing her to get into his vehicle.

The police say Pusey then drove to a petrol station where he stopped to get gas. While there, the woman escaped and reported the matter to the police.

Pusey was subsequently arrested and formally charged on Friday with possession of prohibited weapon, assault at common law, abduction and malicious destruction of property.

He is scheduled to appear before the St Catherine Parish Court on February 2.
