Cedric Titus High School in Clarks Town, Trelawny, is set to benefit from a $200 million project to construct additional classrooms at the institution.

Minister of Education Fayval Williams broke ground for the new classroom block on Tuesday.

"Teachers, parents and students, today we break ground for this project which will see four new classrooms built in 10 months. The classrooms will facilitate an improved science lab and an industrial arts section, which opens doors for skills training in electrical and plumbing trades, among others," Williams stated.

The school's principal, Joan Higgins, welcomed the project.

"Presently we have 550 students on roll. The addition of four new classrooms will cut down on overcrowding, and because of rotation in subject areas we will have more space in which we can operate in the teaching and learning atmosphere," she said.

The project is being implemented under the Primary & Secondary Infrastructure Project (PSIP), funded by the Government.

The project's objectives include expanding school infrastructure to alleviate overcrowding and the removal of the shift system within public schools.
