Bail denied for man charged with Naggo Head, Portmore murder
Bail was today denied in the St Catherine Parish Court for D'Angelo Crichton, who is charged for the shooting death of a man in Naggo Head, Portmore.
In arguing against bail, the Crown contended that he would obstruct justice and that keeping him in custody is the best for public order.
Crichton, a 33-year-old painter of Wakefield district, is charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession and using a weapon to commit a scheduled offence.
A social inquiry report was ordered by the court.
The case will again be mentioned on April 18.
Allegations are that on February 13, the police were alerted to two men with guns in the Naggo Head area.
A team responded and explosions were heard.
Crichton and another man armed with guns were reportedly observed running from the scene where the deceased was fatally shot.
Both men ran off in different directions and Crichton was pursued and was reportedly observed boarding a Toyota Wish motor car.
The vehicle was intercepted and Crichton was removed by the police.
He attempted to escape by jumping from an elevated area.
He sustained severe injuries to his head, ankle and ribs, which saw him being taken to hospital for treatment.
