The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that a section of the westbound carriageway of Spanish Town Road, in the vicinity of Callaloo Mews Housing Scheme in St Andrew, will be closed this weekend.

The closure will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The NWA says the closure will facilitate the replacement of a pipe culvert across the roadway.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says that two culverts are being replaced at the location as part of an eight-week contract. The first culvert, which is in the vicinity of Louis Industrial, was replaced a month ago.

During the period of the works, vehicles travelling in a westerly direction towards Six Miles will be diverted onto one lane of the eastbound carriageway. Vehicles travelling in an easterly direction towards Three Miles will use the other two lanes of the eastbound carriageway.

Shaw says once the culverts have been installed, the roadway will be reinstated and paved with asphaltic concrete.

The NWA is advising motorists to exercise caution while traversing the area, during the period of the works, and to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.
