Three charged with lottery scamming granted $500,000 bail
Three men who are charged with lottery scamming were each granted $500,000 bail today in the St Catherine Parish Court.
The accused are Dontae Lothian, 18, Ronige Lester and Nashaud Carr, both 19, all of Stony Hill, St Andrew.
Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle ordered them to report to the Stony Hill police three times per week.
They are scheduled to return to court on June 5, when the case will be transferred to the St Catherine Circuit Court.
Allegations are that on February 21, the three men were held by Spanish Town police on suspicion of larceny and unauthorised use of a motor vehicle.
The police requested to search their cell phones, and the accused reportedly consented.
During the search, the police allegedly discovered several names, social security numbers, and addresses of individuals overseas.
The court heard that all three men admitted to being scammers.
They were subsequently arrested and charged following question-and-answer sessions with investigators.
