Three charged in St Mary police operation
Three people have been charged following a police-military operation across multiple communities in St Mary on Sunday.
The accused are 20-year-old Alex Robinson of Almond Tree in the parish, Kera Sterling, 46, and Donovan Oliphant, 59, both from Bailey's Vale.
Robinson is charged with possession of identity information; Sterling with possession of an offensive weapon and Oliphant with possession of uncustomed goods, a police statement said Monday.
According to the St Mary police, the operation targeted Bailey’s Vale, Gayle, Oracabessa, and Port Maria, where several premises were searched, and roadblocks set up.
The three were arrested and later charged after interviews in the presence of their attorneys.
The police also issued 36 traffic tickets for breaches of the Road Traffic Act and seized six motor vehicles during the operation.
Police say efforts to curb crime and illegal activities in the parish will continue.
