Government to extend North-South Highway
The Government plans to pursue a US$350 million project to extend the North-South Highway, Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has announced.
The highway starts in Caymanas, St Catherine and ends in Mammee Bay, St Ann.
Holness said the expansion will begin with a clover-leaf interchange at Mammee Bay, which will extend westward to Discovery Bay, also in St Ann, under phase one and eastward to Prospect, in St Mary, under phase two.
“Given the urgency of the development and the dislocation risks involved in upgrading the existing roadway, the Government of Jamaica will take steps to designate the North-South Highway extension as a national development project,” the prime minister said during his contribution to the 2025-2026 Budget Debate in Parliament on Thursday.
